Heather Carter-Simmons

Heather brings her creativity and arts background to her therapeutic practice. She can help you to sense, observe and shift your own perspective. To discover the patterns in your life and what you want to keep and what you want to change. She loves helping clients to re-tell and re-experience their story in new ways.
Heather returned to university in 2012 to get a degree in Psychology, inspired by her neurodivergent children and frustrated at the lack of resources and positive framing of their differences (not disabilities). She participated in many research projects involved with executive functions, mindfulness, cognitive flexibility and working memory. She realized during her work in research labs that she enjoyed working and interacting more directly with research participants. Her love of process and the experiential led her to further training at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto.
Heather loves working with neurodivergent clients and clients who want their unique experiences to be seen and celebrated. She also welcomes any clients who are working through major life changes, feeling lost, grieving or in any way feeling a little out of synch with those around them and desiring to connect and rediscover themselves and their sense of purpose.
